Anyway, the bonus stuff is, I’ve found James Patterson’s “Sundays at Tiffany’s” as well! (I’ve been dying to read the stuff – I was sad it hasn’t come out in my local bookstore yet… Ugh.)

I haven’t downloaded any of them, since I’m still waiting for my other downloads to finish at the moment, but I hope they work just fine! =)

What I think...
I just love Sophie Kinsella. Love her works SO MUCH that I have nothing to complain about.

I think it’s been years (years! I cannot believe this!) since I read the Shopaholic series and “Can You Keep A Secret?” standalone, but after finished reading “The Undomestic Goddess”, the feeling’s still there. The sense of excitement of the marvelous flow of the story and the easy-to-relate heroine in each book.

Can’t wait to read “Remember Me?”!!! =)

What I think….
Right. I wonder how many people (okay, teenagers) are there who haven’t read the Twilight series? Not that much, I suppose. And that’s not counting those who blatantly refuse to read (oh, yes, many of my online friends fall into this category).

Me?
I just read the series last May, read all three books in the span of two weeks.

And?
It’s safe to say that it’s a love-hate relationship, with more emphasis on the “hate” part.

I just want to say that IMO, Meyer should know better. She didn’t plan on any sequels, then she shouldn’t write any. In my eyes, “Twilight” is okay. I like it, even. It’s fun, it got vampires, and I was intrigued by Edward Cullen as a character, the way he keeps going “I’m attracted to you, Bella” and then going 180 degrees with “Bella, you should really stay away from me”. Heck, even I found some parts really amusing.

But then everything going downhill.

Way, way, downhill.

IMO, “New Moon” is mostly skippable. I rather enjoyed Bella’s interaction with Jacob, but my dislike for the way Bella acts is far greater than any light entertainment I got. I may not have experienced losing a boyfriend (or soulmate or whoever), but I’d like to think that if I should happened to be in Bella’s shoes (something that I strongly wish I would never be under), I’d have the strength to continue living my life unlike a “zombie”. I mean, not heartless like “jumping-on-to-another-guy-right-away” heartless, but even though I might be breaking into pieces inside, I would try to convince myself that I’m strong and I could go through this and it all would be okay, someday.

And the feminist in me reacts strongly over the fact that Bella’s will to risk her life just to hear Edward’s voice again. (In her head only, even.) I think for this part, I strongly agree with what Meg Cabot said. She even doesn’t take her husband’s name, how could she agree to Bella’s decision – desire, even – to change her species? (Okay, I don’t know why I drag Meg Cabot into this.)

So there.

However…… I will still read “Breaking Dawn”. Why, you ask? Because like I said, it’s a love-hate. I don’t hate HATE the series because it introduces Alice Cullen (who I happen to adore), because it introduces Charlie and in my head I picture him as “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” Charlie –  (who I like very much – the actor as Charlie, I mean), because it also introduces Edward Cullen, because at first it’s a cute vampire-human love story, because it once again pins vampires v.s. werewolves, because-

My point is, I guess, it’s ridiculous to call the series as “the next Harry Potter”. It isn’t even near the league of Rowling’s masterpiece. But it’s fun for light fantasy-romance combo reading. Just take the good and leave the bad.

Oh, and I very much love the covers, LoL. They’re AMAZING! =)

What I think…
Ehmm. I have to say, I enjoyed “A Quick Bite” more. Way more, unfortunately. While Lissianna and Greg’s story  was capable to keep me intrigued of the outcome of their fate despite of its predictabilty, I found myself  ready to put down “Love Bites” before I reminded myself that I should probably finish it because sometimes (more than I like), a second book can be quite less satisfying than the first one.

Okay. Etienne Argeneau. A vampire who is the creator of a popular vampire-slaying games. Rachel Garrett. A coroner whose morgue becomes the transit of Etienne twice as he becomes the target to be terminated by a madman. Mmmhhmmm… Not really interesting.

I also got bored – seriously bored, even – before I even reached one-fourth of the book. The stakes aren’t high, that’s why.

I have to say, I’m disappointed. “Love Bites” feels too much like standard romance with vampirism theme overused – too often I feel like it’s forced or something. This book lacks the relaxing flow that “A Quick Bite” has.  

It’s a good thing that I started with “A Quick Bite” then, because if you think that I’ve given up on Argeneau series, think again.

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger’s bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor find true love with a hemophobic vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal?

That’s a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into… if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

What I think
The plot. A vampire who faints at the sight of blood? Well, well, well… You can totally tell that I’m hooked already, LoL. Talking about predictability though, it’s pretty much predictable.

The characters. I like Lissianna, I like Greg, so therefore all is good in the character department. (Hey, if you don’t even in the slightest bit like the main characters, you’d be bored as hell!) The rest of the Argeneau family members… Well, I like their interaction, though I still think that at some parts, the teasing stuff can be played more. It doesn’t get to the point where it is tiring, but still, I know it can still be improved.

The fantasy stuff. Hmmm… Vampires. Suck blood, stronger than humans, and able to read and control minds. Pretty standard. I like the whole explanation of vampires avoiding sunlight though. It’s logical, and it’s fun. Xp

Bottom line: Obviously, this series isn’t the greatest out there, but for fun reading, I like it very much! I am fond of fantasy, but I’m also an addict when it comes to the fun and quirkiness of Meg Cabot‘s works. With Argeneau series, I find a little bit of both mashed together, so all is good.

I wasn’t sure whether I’m gonna keep reading the series or not, but now I am. The fact that there are nine books already makes it all easier for me!

“A Quick Bite” (Argeneau Series #1) – Lynsay Sands

I just reached, like, around page 17 or so, but I’m so liking it so far. =)

First of all, one of the characters’ name: Gregory Hewitt? Yeah, perhaps it’s just me, but I found myself linking him with Gregory House in a flick of second.

“Life of Pi” – Yann Martel

Still in early stages of reading too, but I just know right away that this book will be finished much later than the Argeneau series. It’s nothing but the mere fact that the copy I have in my hands is the translated version. I prefer to read the original, but my friend practically kept shoving this book in front of my face, so I had no choice but to snatch it right away! =)

Other titles I’ve dropped (for now, I hope!):

“The Picture of Dorian Gray” – Oscar Wilde

It helps to know that Ben Barnes will be Dorian Gray in the movie installment, but I have to say that I’m much more interested in reading about vampires family (and, no, not the Cullens but the Argeneaus) now.

“American Gods” – Neil Gaiman (audiobooks)

To tell you the truth, Gaiman’s title which I want to read (or listen to) so badly is “Interworld”, not this, so I guess it’s kinda hard for me to pay attention…
